Razor Electric Dirt Bike

By Liz Benson

A Razor electric dirt bike is a popular toy among boys because it gives them the excitement of being able to ride a "real" bike on dirt tracks. Basically, it is a miniature version of a dirt bike and because it comes with speed limits, it is safe for kids to ride it. Before riding, you will need to charge it overnight and once fully charged, it can give you 30 to 45 minutes of riding time.

Depending on the age and skill level of the rider, there are different models to cater to different groups. However, these bikes are more for teenagers and the minimum recommended age by the manufacturer for the low end model is 12. This model, which is the Razor MX350, has a maximum weight limit of 140lbs and it can only go up to 14 miles per hour with a 350-watt electrical motor. With its smaller size and lower speed limit, it is suitable for younger kids who are just starting out in dirt bike riding.

At the other end of the scale is the Razor MX650. This Razor electric dirt bike is much more powerful than the MX350 with a 650-watt motor. The speed limit for this bike is 17 miles per hour and it can carry riders of up to 220lbs in weight. With a bigger frame, it is supported by 16 and 14-inch pneumatic tires for the front and back respectively compared to 12-inch tires for the MX350. Designed for 16-year-olds and older, it is a bike that is suitable for more experienced riders.

Of course, there are also other models in between the MX350 and MX650. As you move up the scale, the bikes will also become more expensive because of the increased power of each over the last. Generally, the MX400 is not as popular because the features are more or less the same as the MX350. Hence, buyers do not feel that that it is worth it to pay the additional price just to get a 50-watt difference in the motor.

Lastly, if you are shopping for a Razor electric bike for your kid, you will need to assess his maturity and riding skills before buying. There are risks of crashes with these bikes, especially for a new rider, and that is why you should be cautious about which model to get. The most powerful bike may not necessarily be the most ideal for your kid, even if your budget allows it.
